Job Opportunity: General Workers (Region A – G) X50
The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) invites applications for General Worker X50 positions across various depots, including Traffic Signals and Markings, Resurfacing Depot, Fleet and Plant Depot, Motorways Depot, Asphalt and Laboratory, to join its team for 2025.
Position Details
- Reference: 01/2025/01
- Salary: R132,056.87 – R198,058.31 per annum (Basic Salary)
- Closing Date: 29 January 2025
Key Responsibilities
As a General Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Traffic Management:
- Directing traffic around hazards or work zones.
- Setting up temporary road signs, cones, and barricades following standard operating procedures.
- Road and Infrastructure Maintenance:
- Building and repairing concrete kerbs forming edges between pavements and roadways.
- Constructing or repairing stormwater Kerb Inlets (KIs) and ensuring they are cleaned and unblocked when needed.
- Support Tasks:
- Assisting crane operators in pulling concrete slabs when necessary.
- Cleaning tools and clearing earth or open channels.
- Addressing citizen concerns and complaints on job sites.
- Manual Labor:
- Digging ditches, cleaning, and installing culverts.
- Removing debris from roadways and shoulders.
- Repairing potholes or damaged pavement for patching.
Requirements and Selection Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification:
- Grade 10 or NQF equivalent.
- Work Experience:
- At least six (6) months of experience in road construction, maintenance, or operating machinery/equipment related to building.
