Job Description
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and customer-oriented individuals for the role of General Sales Assistant at a well-known retail store in Claremont. This position is ideal for recent matriculants who are looking to gain practical work experience and start a long-term career in the retail industry.
As a Sales Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers while maintaining the presentation and organization of the store. You will receive hands-on training and support as you grow in the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Provide product information and assist with purchases
- Maintain store cleanliness, tidiness, and product display standards
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using POS systems
- Replenish stock and support inventory management activities
- Promote in-store specials, loyalty programs, and seasonal offers
- Collaborate with other team members to achieve sales targets
- Follow company procedures regarding returns, exchanges, and payments
Minimum Requirements
- Matric Certificate (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification
- No previous experience required, but retail/customer service experience is advantageous
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math skills for handling cash and transactions
- Friendly, energetic, and willing to learn
- Able to work under pressure in a busy retail environment
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings when required
- Professional appearance and punctuality
